Musings

There is a peculiar joy in musing, in letting the mind wander like an old pilgrim down a country road, stopping now and then to admire a wildflower, argue with a cloud, or listen for the footfall of God in the dust. Religion gives the musing heart a sky to look up into, a mystery large enough to humble us and tender enough to hold us. Music comes alongside like a faithful companion, humming beneath our questions, turning grief into melody and doubt into harmony. A song can preach without a pulpit, pray without a steeple, and remember what the soul forgot it knew.

Politics, for all its thunder and theater, also has its place in the wandering mind, if only to remind us that people are forever trying to build heaven with crooked lumber. We muse on kings and candidates, promises and parades, shaking our heads one moment and laughing the next, because silliness is mercy dressed in mismatched socks. Without silliness, the world would become unbearably serious, and we would mistake our opinions for commandments. So we laugh, sing, pray, ponder, and stumble forward, carrying our little lanterns into the great and shadowed mystery of life.
